8th Edition
Ultra Fiord Event Flags

Considering the geographical and meteorological conditions of the race area, the equipment suggested by the organization seeks to strengthen your personal safety. However, selecting and evaluating each item of equipment is your responsibility. The race format is non-stop with semi autonomy., meaning each runner must be autonomous between assistance points. Therefore, in order to confront any and all climatic or physical conditions, you must carry the mandatory equipment at all times, in addition to sufficient food and hydration to complete each race section. Please keep in mind that each person reacts differently to the same weather conditions and that your clothing, diet, hydration and running speed are essential factors in preventing hypothermia.

The following table is a list of the mandatory and recommended equipment for to be used during the event:

Front HeadlightThis element is fundamental to your security in the case that you are unable to finish the race within the allotted time and must walk without light.MMNN
Container to hold at least 0.5 liters
(Bottle or Camelbak)
Remember that hydration is critical to your performance and your survival as well for that matter. Even though you will find PAS (Aid Stations) along the route and numerous water sources to resupply, there are zones where you will need to be able to rely on your own reserve.MMMM
Non-disposable cup
(Ideal for both cold and hot liquids)
For environmental and sanitary reasons, we will not provide cups at the aid stations (PAS), including Start & Finish. In order to hydrate at these points, you must have your own cup. Also, if you want to access any hot water (soup, coffee, or tea, for example), you must either have a Thermos or have a cup suitable for both.MMMM
Survival Blanket
(Minimum Size 140 x 200 cm)
It could be useful should you have to wait for support from the organization to take you to the finish line in cases of withdrawal from the race or injure yourself. The survival blanket protects against wind and reduces the loss of body heat. While you may choose a different size, it must have a minimum surface area of 2.8m2.MMMM
WhistleIn case a runner needs to alert or attract attention, especially in cases of emergency. We recommend that runners use a whistle with a potent sound that it be kept in an easily accessible area.MMMM
Sunglasses
(To protect against sun, wind or snow)
Exposure to solar radiation causes a high number of eye injuries, so we therefore recommend bringing a pair of sunglasses that filter UV rays. Also, these can additionally help protect against the wind: there have been cases of transient blindness due to cold wind. Also, when crossing wooded areas, it can protect against branches.MMMM
Reserve NutritionPlease consider that your energy consumptions will increase during poor weather conditions, low temperatures, precipitation and/or wind, meaning reserve nutrition is fundamental to both your performance and security.MMMM
Trekking PolesIf you have already tried using them while running and know how to properly use them, trekking poles can be a great help in certain stretches of the race. Among the advantages are reducing the strain on your legs and improving stability in complex areas.RRRR

Thermal, windproof glovesThe hands are the only part of the body where heat does not enter while running, which is due to the blood circulation focusing on the muscles. We recommend using gloves, ideally Windstopper or similar.MMMR
